What the Meta Ad Finder checks
Find the Facebook and Instagram ads a competitor is running right now, or every active ad that mentions a keyword: the wording, call to action, landing page, start date and where each ad shows.
- Up to 30 of the most recently started active ads from a Facebook page, or that mention a keyword, in every country or the one you choose
- Each ad's format (image, video, carousel or dynamic) and the places it shows, such as Facebook, Instagram and Messenger
- The text, headline, call-to-action button and landing page of the longest-running ads
- When each ad started and how many days it has been running
- The pages behind a keyword search, to see who else advertises on the topic
What it does not do
- What an advertiser spends, or how many people an ad reached
- Ads that have stopped running; only active ads are listed
- Ad images and videos; the report shows the wording and links to each ad in the Meta Ad Library
- Ads on Google or LinkedIn; use the Google and LinkedIn ad tools for those
- More than the 30 most recently started ads for one search
Questions about the Meta Ad Finder
- Which ads does the tool show?
- The active ads Meta lists in its public Ad Library, up to 30 per search, with the most recently started first in the sample and the longest-running first in the report. Ads that have stopped are not included.
- What should I type for a Facebook page?
- The page's name exactly as it appears on Facebook, for example Semrush rather than semrush.com. A keyword search needs no exact name. It lists active ads that mention the word, from any page.
- Does it show how much a competitor spends?
- No. Meta publishes spend and reach only for some political and social issue ads. For other ads, how long one has been running is the best sign that it works, because an advertiser stops paying for an ad that does not.
- Why were no ads found?
- The page may not run ads right now, its name may be spelled differently on Facebook, or it may not show ads in the country you chose. Check the spelling, try every country or search by keyword. A run that finds no ads is refunded.
- How much does the Meta Ad Finder cost?
- 5 credits per run, shown before the run starts. An AI agent can run the same tool over the REST API or MCP with a workspace API key.
