What the Competitor Finder checks
Find the websites that rank in Google for the same keywords as yours, sorted into close competitors and large general sites by how much of their traffic overlaps.
- The 30 sites that share the most Google keywords with your domain, in the country you choose
- How many keywords you have in common with each site, and how many keywords each ranks for
- The share of each site's keywords that you also rank for, to separate close competitors from large sites
- Estimated monthly visits and average rank for every site found
- Your own keyword count and estimated visits, for comparison
What it does not do
- Competitors for one page or folder; the lookup covers the whole domain
- Competitors in the countries you do not choose
- Businesses that compete with you offline or through paid ads only
- Exact traffic; visits and keyword counts are estimates
Questions about the Competitor Finder
- How does the tool find my competitors?
- It compares the Google keywords your domain ranks for with those of every other site, and lists the sites that share the most. Competition is measured in search results, not by industry or by what a site sells.
- What is the difference between a close competitor and a large general site?
- A close competitor is a site where at least 5% of the keywords it ranks for are ones you rank for too. A large general site such as Wikipedia ranks for millions of keywords, so sharing yours says little about whether it competes with you.
- What should I do with the list?
- Take the close competitors into Competitor Keywords to see what brings them visits, or into Keyword Gap to see only the keywords you miss. Those two tools turn the list into blog topics and Google Ads keywords.
- Why does a small site show few or no close competitors?
- A site that ranks for only a handful of keywords shares them mostly with very large sites. Run Competitor Keywords on a competitor you already know instead.
- What happens if no competitor is found?
- A lookup that finds your site but no other site sharing its keywords is still charged, because the data provider charges for it, and the report says so. A lookup for which the provider has no record of the site is refunded.
- How much does the Competitor Finder cost?
- 38 credits per run, shown before the run starts. An AI agent can run the same tool over the REST API or MCP with a workspace API key.
