OpenAI news RSS: the official feed, the changelog and a second opinion

How to follow OpenAI by feed reader, and why an independent feed belongs next to the company's own.

By ClaudeGPT Si Newsroom, Editorial team··3 min read

Yes, OpenAI news has an RSS feed: the company publishes its blog as a feed at openai.com/news/rss.xml, and you can add it to any feed reader. Pair it with an independent feed such as ClaudeGPT Si's, which covers OpenAI alongside the rest of AI and lists the sources behind every story, so you get both the announcement and the context.

This guide shows what each feed gives you, how to set them up, and how to keep the result readable. Everything was checked on October 28, 2026.

The three feeds worth adding

Feed Address What you get
ClaudeGPT Si claudegpt.si/feed.xml Independent AI news, OpenAI stories included, with sources
OpenAI News openai.com/news/rss.xml Every post on the OpenAI blog
OpenAI API changelog developers.openai.com/api/docs/changelog Dated API and model changes (a web page, not a feed)

ClaudeGPT Si

ClaudeGPT Si is a free, independent AI publication. It is not affiliated with OpenAI, and companies cannot pay for coverage. Each article shows when it was published and last updated and ends with a source list, which makes it easy to trace a claim back to OpenAI's own page. Its OpenAI coverage also sits on one OpenAI tag page, if you would rather browse than subscribe.

The site-wide feed includes non-OpenAI stories, such as other labs, chips and funding rounds. If you only want OpenAI, use your reader's keyword filter (see below).

OpenAI News

The official feed carries everything OpenAI posts to its blog. Each item has a title, a one-line summary, a link and a category label. The labels we saw include Product, Research, Security, Company, Global Affairs, Engineering and Startup. A lot of the feed is customer stories, so the big launches can get buried among case studies.

The API changelog

Developers should bookmark the changelog. It lists model releases and API changes by date, in short entries. In late October 2026, for example, it recorded the GPT-6.1 Terra release on October 26 and the Decisions API reaching general availability on October 22. We did not find a feed for it, so either check it by hand or point a page change monitor at it.

How to set up an OpenAI news feed

  1. Pick a reader. Feedly, Inoreader, NetNewsWire and most email-style readers accept a plain feed address.
  2. Add openai.com/news/rss.xml and claudegpt.si/feed.xml as two separate subscriptions, so you can tell the official voice from the reporting.
  3. Put both in one folder called "OpenAI" or "AI news" to read them together.
  4. Turn on a keyword filter in the ClaudeGPT Si subscription for terms such as "OpenAI", "ChatGPT", "Codex" or "GPT" if you want OpenAI stories only.
  5. For the OpenAI feed, mute or skip the categories you do not need. Many readers can filter on the category field.

Why add an independent feed at all

A company blog tells you what the company wants to say. It rarely tells you what a change costs, how it compares with the last version, or what was left out. Take the October 23 post on training frontier models offline. OpenAI's summary covers offline environments and red-teaming. ClaudeGPT Si's report on the post adds TechCrunch's account of the September incident that came before it, and says what is still unknown.

The same goes for deals. Oracle's October 27 announcement with OpenAI came from Oracle's newsroom, not the OpenAI feed, so an OpenAI-only reader would have missed it. ClaudeGPT Si covered it as Oracle putting ChatGPT and Codex into its apps.

When the official feed alone is enough: if you only need to know that something shipped and you will read the docs anyway, the OpenAI feed plus the changelog will do.

A note for SEO and content teams

If you write about AI, these feeds are a good source of dated facts for your own pages. Cite the primary page first (the OpenAI post or changelog entry) and the reporting second. Dated, sourced claims are easier for search and answer engines to trust and quote than undated summaries.
