Ahrefs Brand Radar: pricing, data and alternatives
·8 min read
Ahrefs Brand Radar shows how often AI assistants mention and cite a brand. It runs a large fixed set of prompts, built from Ahrefs' keyword data, through ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and others, and it can also track prompts you write yourself. As of October 2026 one AI platform costs $199 a month and all of them cost $699. If you want a market-wide view like Brand Radar's, Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit is the nearest swap at $99 a month per domain. To track your own prompts every day, SE Ranking's SE Visible starts at $99 a month. For a one-off look, Ahrefs' own AI Visibility Checker costs nothing.
Prices here come from each vendor's own pricing page or help center, in US dollars, as of October 2026. Ahrefs shows euro prices to some visitors in Europe.
What Ahrefs Brand Radar costs in 2026
Brand Radar is sold per AI platform. Each AI index costs $199 a month, and the bundle of every platform costs $699 a month with 2,500 custom prompt checks included, per Ahrefs' pricing page and its Brand Radar help article. Only Enterprise customers can pay yearly, according to Ahrefs' pricing guide.
| What you buy | Price a month | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| One AI index | $199 | One platform, such as ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Gemini or Perplexity |
| All AI indexes | $699 | Every platform, plus 2,500 custom prompt checks |
| Custom prompts Basic | $50 | 2,500 checks, then $0.020 a check |
| Custom prompts Growth | $100 | 7,000 checks, then $0.015 a check |
| Custom prompts Scale | $250 | 25,000 checks, then $0.010 a check |
Ahrefs' own pages disagree on whether you also need an Ahrefs plan. The pricing guide says the AI indexes "do not require a base subscription plan", and the help article says they need "any paid plan". Ask Ahrefs before you budget. If you do need one, Lite costs $129 a month and Standard $249.
Paid Ahrefs plans come with some custom prompt checks at no extra cost: 150 a month on Lite, 300 on Standard, 600 on Advanced and at least 2,500 on Enterprise, per the Brand Radar page.
How Brand Radar gets its data
Brand Radar has two sources of answers, and they refresh at very different speeds.
The main index is a fixed prompt set. Ahrefs takes People Also Ask questions from its keyword database and runs them in the web version of each assistant, with the default model, from the keyword's country and with no personalization, per the help article. The pricing page puts the index at more than 489 million prompts, and older Ahrefs pages give smaller figures. AI Overviews data refreshes every few days and the chatbots once a month, so a ChatGPT number can be weeks old when you read it.
Custom prompts are the ones you write, run daily, weekly or monthly. One check is one prompt on one platform in one location for one update. Five prompts a day on one platform use about 150 checks a month, which is all of Lite's allowance, and the same five prompts on ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini need about 450. Claude is queried through its API, and each Claude check counts as 8. A custom prompt's data starts the day you add it.
For both sources, Brand Radar reports mentions, citations, AI share of voice and estimated impressions, which weights each answer by the searches behind its question. It lists the pages and domains the answers cite, and it has an API, an MCP server and a Looker Studio connector. The help article said in October 2026 that Grok was temporarily unable to gather new data.

The closest alternative to Brand Radar's index
Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit is the nearest like-for-like. It costs $99 a month per domain, and you can add it to a Semrush plan you already have, per Semrush's knowledge base and AI pricing page. Its visibility overview, competitor research for up to 4 rivals at a time and prompt research work from Semrush's own prompt data, and Brand Performance reports refresh weekly. Prompt Tracking for prompts you write includes 25, and 50 more cost $60 a month. There is no trial, and each user needs their own license.
The pricing page names ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity, and the knowledge base says the engines differ by report, so check that the report you want covers the engine you care about. If you also need Semrush's SEO tools, Semrush One Starter bundles both for $199 a month, or $165.17 billed annually, per its pricing page.
Semrush's AI Visibility Checker is a no-cost sample of the same data. Enter a domain and it returns an AI Visibility Score from 0 to 100, mentions, citations, top cited pages and a comparison with competitors across ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews. Semrush says it draws on more than 26 million prompts, and you can run it three times a day without registering.
Track your own prompts every day for less
If the part of Brand Radar you need is custom prompts run daily, a prompt tracker costs less than the $699 bundle.
SE Visible, SE Ranking's standalone AI tracker, costs $99 a month for 200 prompts on its Basic plan, or $79 a month billed annually. Every plan covers ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode, Perplexity and AI Overviews and refreshes daily, which SE Visible puts at about 30,000 answers a month on Basic. SE Visible says it collects answers through each assistant's browser interface, not its API. There is a 10-day trial. For comparison, $100 at Ahrefs buys 7,000 custom prompt checks.
If you also want SE Ranking's SEO suite, its Core plan costs $129 a month, or $103.20 billed annually, and includes 100 prompts tracked daily. The AI Search add-on starts at $89 a month for 200 more prompts and includes access to SE Visible.
Peec AI Starter costs $95 a month, or $80 billed annually, for 50 prompts run daily with unlimited users. Its plan cards say you choose 3 models, and each extra model costs $35 a month. OtterlyAI Lite costs $29 a month for 15 prompts run daily on ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, and its Standard plan adds API and MCP access for $189 with 100 prompts.
Scrunch Core costs $250 a month for 125 prompts and 5,000 answers a month on ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and Copilot, with 5 seats and AI crawler traffic. That's about one run of each prompt every 3 days. Our guides to OtterlyAI, Peec AI and Scrunch AI alternatives compare these trackers in detail.

No-cost ways to see what AI says about a brand
Start with Ahrefs' own AI Visibility Checker. Enter a brand name, with no signup and no limit on how many brands you check. It covers ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and AI Overviews, and returns total mentions, mentions per platform, and the top 5 topics, cited domains and cited pages. It is a one-time snapshot of Brand Radar's data, so it shows what the paid tool would tell you before you pay.
SE Ranking's AI visibility checker compares your domain with up to 5 competitors across AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, 5 checks a day. Semrush's checker, above, allows three a day.
These checkers report counts and top lists. Use them to decide whether a paid tool is worth it, then read the answers themselves to see why a competitor gets named instead of you.
When Brand Radar is still the right choice
Brand Radar is the right choice if you already work in Ahrefs and want AI visibility next to your backlinks and keywords. Estimated impressions are its strongest feature. A list of prompts you wrote yourself can't tell you how many people ask each one, and Brand Radar weights every answer by the searches behind it. The API, MCP server and Looker Studio connector also make it easy to put the numbers in a client report.
It is a weaker fit if you need fresh chatbot numbers, because the main index refreshes them monthly, or if you care about 20 prompts, where $699 a month buys far more coverage than you'll use. For what share of voice means across these tools, see share of voice for AI search. For Ahrefs' SEO plans, see our Ahrefs alternatives guide.
Check who AI answers cite, per run
Our AI Citation Finder is the closest thing we have to Brand Radar's cited pages view. Enter a website, yours or a competitor's, to see how many AI answers cite it, which of its pages are among the 25 most cited, which other pages are cited next to them and which sites the answers quote most. Enter a topic instead to get the 25 pages cited in the most AI answers, with the monthly searches behind them. It covers Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT in any of 20 countries, and a run costs 160 credits.
The data provider tracks the questions people ask most, and far fewer on ChatGPT than on Google. Read the counts as a comparison between sites, not as every answer ever given. Perplexity and Gemini aren't covered.
For one question you care about, AI Answer Visibility asks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini with web search on. For each engine it reports whether the answer names your brand and in what place, whether it cites your site and which URLs, plus the full answer. A run costs 120 credits. Brand Narrative Check, 150 credits, asks the same three engines what your brand is and quotes anything that conflicts with your home page.
Plans start at $29 a month for 2,000 credits, enough for 12 AI Citation Finder runs or 16 AI Answer Visibility runs. None of these tools track answers over time, so if you need 100 prompts checked every day, a tracker above costs less per answer. Every tool also runs from Claude, Cursor or another agent through our MCP server.
